» Speeches and articles

Delon is a technology pioneer, seasoned businessman and visionary who has played key roles in building a series of successful businesses, most notably Netscape Communications and MP3.com. Delon is currently CEO and founder of PalmTree Technology.

Prior to moving to Europe, Delon served as Executive Vice President and CTO of MP3.com where he helped create and deliver a new and exciting music delivery technology to the internet. Prior to working with MP3.com, Mr. Dotson was a Director of Software Engineering at Netscape Communications in Silicon Valley where he was responsible for the creation and maintenance of large enterprise intranet deployments worldwide solving problems for a wide variety of blue chip clients as well as The United States government and the Vatican. He contributed to the design and development of the Netcenter portal and helped pioneer email marketing and affiliate programs. Before joining Netscape Communications, Delon was co-creator and CEO of Southern California's first technical outsourcing company where he invented technologies to solve corporate challenges ranging from database and software issues to server technology.

Within these various roles, Delon has been called upon to provide innovative, commercially-critical technology solutions in particular within the Financial Services industry, during the era of the industry's initial take-up of Internet technologies. Former clients include General Electric, AT&T, IBM, Sun Microsystems, AON Insurance, Morgan Stanley, Citicorp, Prudential, Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, Credit Suisse First Boston and First Interstate Bank.

In Europe, Mr. Dotson created a network of more than 1500 engineers in 35 companies covering 19 countries, dedicated to an unprecedented standard of technical delivery. This network uniquely provides the capability to create a truly culturalised experience for the emerging Omninet environment, (as opposed to the predominantly American experience which the Internet has become and which has proven commercially limiting).

Through this network called Federation One, Delon committed himself to changing the paradigm of business technology to meet the complex requirements of the post Internet-boom marketplace. Working with clients and colleagues across Europe, he has created a new and original development methodology which offers high speed, high quality, business focused technical solutions for large corporate entities, at a much lower cost than has ever been possible before. Drawing from his experiences on both sides of the boardroom table, he designed Federation One's unique system in order to address and rectify the "us and them" culture that often undermines the successful marriage of technology and commerce. Thus, Federation One can offer reduced-timeframe delivery of high performance, well-factored object oriented code with multiple delivery capabilities and inherent economies of scale for its clients.

Mr. Dotson was also invited by Congressman Chris Shays of of his home state of Connecticut to participate in discussions in Washington on behalf of Homeland Security. His contributions were in the fields of biometrics and cyber warfare.

Mr. Dotson has been called a true renaissance man. His education spans theatre, music, law, engineering and business. He is a popular experienced public speaker. His name appears in the presitigeous International Who's who publication for 2003.
